PROSECUTOR AGREES TORREVIEJA COUNCIL HAVE CASE TO ANSWER

Torrevieja Town Hall

The PSOE of Torrevieja has supported the announcement that the court prosecutor has decided that a legal case is valid against those Councillors and workers of Torrevieja town hall who were found to have abused their position in using municipal money to pay for premium rate telephone services such as subscribing to pornographic films, calling prostitutes, entering television competitions and the like.

The Chief Prosecutor in Alicante has agreed that the case does involve a potential “misappropriation of funds”, to which a PSOE spokesperson has said that they are working with all political groups, in order to “get to the bottttom of the matter.

The mobile phone scandal has so far only brought one political casualty, in the resignation of Daniel Plaza, although he denied the accusation that he was responsible for his mobile phone making regular calls to prostitutes. Other Councillors had originally refused to pay back the money they spent, although agreements have now been made with many of them.
